I've been using my standard, r reg, sporting cinq to commute to work (1,000 miles a week) for the last couple of years and have clocked up 85,000 miles putting it up to 131,000. I've been through the usual consumables but other than that (and I know I'm tempting fate) no problems. Has anybody else on here done shedloads of miles? How long can I expect it to carry on? My servicing consists of changing the oil/filter every 6-8,000 and plugs/air filter annually. Interested to know if anybody else 'abuses' their cinq in this manner? Dave.

Your beaten by emspems yellow cinq sporting which should have surpassed 140k by now. The last time i saw it last year it had done 136,000.

Theres no reason why, if regular maintenence is kept up why it cant go on for a few more years yet. (y)

Dont expect much in terms of resale value though :D It would be mega hard to shift a 1108 with 131k on it

You should service the car better than that  . You're asking for trouble!

You should at least change the brake fluid for safety purposes. IIRC it should be replaced at least every 2 years. Brake fluid absorbs water, which can boil, and cause rust. This can lead to sudden brake failure :bang:. It is probably uncommon, but IMHO it's not a risk anybody should take. You may also have some probablems claiming from your insurance company if you have an accident that was due to negligence.

After that distance a gearbox oil (I think), coolant and fuel filter change are also long over due, and you will probably benefit from replacing them.

Thanks for all the advice. It's had a couple of cam belts, first at correct service interval, second at 111,000. It had all new discs at the 100,000 when the brake fluid was changed. I guess I should think about changing fluid again, which I'll do next week at it's oil change time. Clutch at 98,000. Apart from a new rad that's about it although I've never managed to solve the mystery of the petrol escape from the tank and why the washer bottle only last two weeks after I've fixed it for the MOT. I'll forgo the sarny and cash offer, tempting though they are!!! as I'm sure I can break the 140,000 record prior to Christmas. Prior to the cinq I used a Honda CBR600 bike and got 209,000 out of that prior to the head gasket giving way. It's my aim to beat that. I'm sure the cinqs as reliable as any Honda!!! I'll let you know when the next benchmark is passed. Dave.

Well having said that...

My Cinq's had the same airfilter for at least the last 12k miles, ergo I have no record of the fuel filter ever being changed.

Oil and filter, brake fluid are all less than 10k / 6 months old!

143,000 and the head gasket has finally given out!! Replacing it this week along with water pump and treating it to a new rad as that had been leaking too. Should be good for another 143,000 after that, I'm sure.

143k!!! Must be in the lead surely?

It certainly gives off a good vibe about the SPI 1108 unit (y)

Up to 160,000 now but need some help with a new problem please. I run my cinq up and down the motorway 200 miles a day with no problems but when running round our local country roads at speed I get a nasty steering 'judder' when negotiating small bends on uneven road surface. It feels like it could get nasty, but backing off the accelerater normally returns normality. Tyres are fine, shocks seem fine (car got through its MOT last month, only needing new radius arms) Any ideas as to what the problem may be? Any help/advice would be gratefully received. Thanks. Dave.

:D Got 268000km on the clock! That's about 166500 miles...
Guess you'll take the lead soon as I'm not using it on long distances anymore.

I bought it with 43000 miles. Clutch was replaced at 60000.
At the same time it got a Novitec Airbox & chip plus a Remus exhaust.
Cam belt has been done three times :D Oil & filter every 6000.
Alternator died at 100000... Lots of wheel bearings & exhaust parts (n)

Nothing serious...

The engine has never been opened, appart from the cam cover.
So still running with my original headgasket!

Plenty of admiration here however you are surely playing with fire still being on the original HG :p

Well that's what they told me something like 5 years ago...
I'll keep playing

I'd like to get 300000kms out of it. Sounds nice (y)
