Hey,

Im fairly new to the Cinq and was wondering if anyone new of any short shifter kits to fit the standard Cinq Sporting gearbox.

And if not does anyone know what benifits a Punto Sporting 6 speed gearbox will offer me (other than short shift capabilities), fingers crossed for lower reving at high speeds, and closer lower gearing.

Cheers, Jim.

There is an italian company that makes a short shifter kit for Cinq Sportings, try a search caus there is a link to their website somewhere.

My dad works in italy occasionally and I'm hoping he can get me one next time he is over there

Re. the short shifter, AFAIK no one makes one. But it should be easy enough to make your own, if you can find a scrap lever and gearchange assembly from a scrapper. Essentially, all you're doing is a cut and shut job on the lever so that the same push and pull on the lever has a greater effect on the other side of the pivot. You may need to make the box which covers the mechanism bigger and on the Cinq Sporting you have the added complication of the reverse inhibitor.

I want to see nice, clean, mig welds, perfect penetration, and don't go mad: a little distance on the bottom side of the pivot will make a big difference.:yum:

Still looking for that short shifter, any ideas of the company name, found a few on ebay but still waiting to see if they are compatable? Thanks for your help though, much apreciated.

Jim.

I was chatting with a guy the other day who had one of these fitted to his punto and it was an off the shelf part (GT Pro I think) maybe as its the same gearbag it could be made to fit a cinq?

Same gearbag(?) but completely different linkage. Worth a look, but could well pose as many or more problems as moding the original.
