Hi im new to the forum. Im new to fiats to.

I currently own this (cinqu sporting) and a Sierra Cosworth. Recently i built one of the fastest FWD cars in the country. It was a mimi blue 205 gti running a 400bhp t16. However......

I for some stupid reason i want to know does a punto gt turbo engine, or uno turbo engine fit in the the little chinq.

If so has anyone done it and whats required.

Thanks Jamie

Punto GT wont fit it is too tall for the cinq engine bay. Major bodywork issues would have to be undertaken if you wanted this to fit.

Uno T lump will fit but there is one on the forum with bills of 8k and counting. Some bodywork changes have to be done also.

A sei had an UT lump with bills of 18k by the time it was sold, admittidly other mods were undertaken.

If you are serious, you would have to budget for a couple of thousand at least, and expect to shell out more.

However you sound very mechanically minded judging by your 205 conversion so that will save you a few bob.

The other problem is insurance and your age. This can be a stumbling block, but youve obviously insured a 400bhp 205 so finding someone i dont think would be a problem

ooo this is interesting,

how mad do you want to go?

as someone with a 320bhp cavalier i think we might have something in common :)

There are lots of options some great fwd conversions have been done a bit of searching will pull up threads with 150bhp turbo mpi cinqs!!!

allthough the punto GT engine will not drop directly in if you are crazy enough anything is possible with a plasma cutter and welding torch(y)

But if i had the money and didn't have to fit the kids in the back I would do a rwd conversion and stick something mad where the back seats would be there have been cossie powered examples on cinqs and v6 powered pandas so the world is your lobster:D

:Offtopic: but i have yet to see you in either the cinq, the GP or the chavalier despite living 1 mile away

FYI...If you want to make a Punto GT unit go in..it will, but it may sit very low...so may eat driveshafts!!

Tbh i dont want to go spending stupid money.. I was having a beer the other day with my mate build a sleeper.

As obviously my 205 was definatly one. and i previous put a 160bhp vvc into a metro, so we went onto the chinq side of things.

My question is how is the best way to get bhp per £££ for the cinqu (nos is not an option)

ive heard of the VA way (forgive me if im wrong but about 100bhp)
but how do you get to around the 150bhp. Thats what i want

if anyone is interested. Here is my 205 with a small video clip of it in the rain. And a couple of my cossie J

Nice cars, I like the Cossie, nearly stock looking on the outside, 2WD or 4?

I hate french cars but admire the work you have put in plus how sleeperesque it looked, must've had crazy fun in that, was it hard to handle?

I have seen you:)

you pulled out in front of me the other week as I was coming through Darrington in the cinq just before those stupid traffic lights were switched on

I flashed you but in a typical male way you ignored me:)

I work away most of the time so the only driving i tend to do around home is Fri to Mon

you wont have seen me in the Cav as she has only done 20miles so far this year and that was to find some proper super unleaded. I have been doing some suspension work on the old girl but she will be burning people away at traffic lights very soon

and.... the wife :worship: drives the GP every day and she goes through Darrington almost every week day between 7:30m - 8:00 and then heads for the centre on Leeds and comes back 18-00 - 18:30 on the way back home

Nice Cossie i used to have an RS500 until some t**t nicked it  and it had the best car security available at the time

there is a recent post from one of our french contingent that basically has put in a 1242 MPI with a turbo

Youll have to spend serious cash for that BHP figure. Theres no way you wil get that by buying off the shelf parts

The UT cinq on the forum was only running at 117bhp IIRC after the 8k expenditure. The french one mentioned above isnt much higher
