My wife has a Cinquecento Sporting '99. I'm the one lucky enought to get to fix it when she breaks it. *listens for male grumbles of agreement...* lol

for a while it has been running quite rough. the engine cuts out at junctions and it has been increasingly difficult to start. I'm guessing its fuel starvation. I'm going to change the fuel filter because I have no idea when it was last done and she's had the car for over 6 years.

Any other ideas in case this doesnt fix it? Am I off the mark here?

Is the Injector Light (Red 'spray' type icon) on the dashboard coming on at all? If so it could be a number of things, mine ran lumpy and kept cutting out, changed spark plugs, HT leads and both coils, still the same, turned out to be the LT leads that plug into each coil, cost a whole £2.00 from a scrappy!!! So try the cheapest options first, like a bit of Injector Cleaner, that is, if the warning lights coming on at all though.

No icon light on dashboard, no.

Just not running very nice. I'm gonna try the fuel filter anyway because it's never had one as far as i know. And I've got one ordered anyway now.

Hi,

I changed the filter and pipes on mine recently due to the Cinq just cutting out - long story see seperate thread - Mine was actually the wrong way around and I was amazed at how much cr*p came out.
Not the best fun job, reasonably cheap and I hope it works.

Good luck,

Paul

could be fuel pump maybe as an alternate suggestion?

Are there any leaks from the petrol tank? being a 99 you may be entitled to a free fuel tank replacement unless the work hasnt been carried out already

thanks for the advice guys. changed the fuel filter and it seems to run a lot better immeadiately. not cut out yet anyway. (just tried to delete a thunderbug under my flat screen...... f#@*ing things).

Done a full Engine Flush and Rad Flush and filled with new fluids. seems nicer.

Any advice on tuning it now, it seems to run a littel groggy, popping a little from the exhaust.

cheers

depends on your budget you have to spend in terms of tuning

Search the forum for ideas, plenty of threads (y)
