would they fit a mk1 punto?

As long as the MK1 Putno doesn't have an air bag then don't see why not, I've changed seat belts from one car to another before, I put red belts from an MG Metro in a MK1 XR2 many years ago.

the only reason I mention air bag is you need pre-tensioner seat belts for those which some late Cinqs have, i know mine that got written off definitely did as they have a completely different real, much bigger than the normal small real.

It best to get a hold of one and compare and try, as long as mount are the same should be fine.

cheers, punto does have airbag.

belts are being sorted now, so will see what happens when they get here.

if the reel of belt is same size itll be fine then? how will know if it got pretensioner?

The pretensioner is usually on the latch part of the seat IIRC it's that which pulls the belt tight on impact, it's got nowt to do with the reel or belt itself, you should compare the metal part which couples to compare them cos the Punto might be different.

Also you may want to obtain the correct torque figures and some threadlocker when fitting new belts to ensure maximum safety.

Not on Cinq belts, mine on the red airbag fitted Cinq had big black boxs around the real, unlike the normal ones, which do not, the seats, the latches are all identical. The rear belts are normal, so after accident last year the front belts were fecked, as the pretensioner thing only works once, they were locked in stretched position, whereas the rear belt was completly usable after accident, belt extracted and returned no problem.

so the pre tensioner part was on the reel?suppose its cheaper for fiat to do that than re design the belt clip part on the seats??
though most ive seen are part of the belt clip.oh and a word to the wise ,all those safety warnings about removing these stand true.
changed a faulty one on a cavalier and once removed(theres a safety lock clip built in)i removed the safety clip and just dropped it about 2 feet to the ground and it went off with quite a bang

Yeah i know its seems strange, but there was absolutely no difference with the clips on both Cinqs I've had but the belts were noticeable different, and they were fubar'd after accident.

i didn't have an airbag by the point anyway as I had removed the oooogly air bag wheel :D
