put my new fuel tank on today filled it up and turned over the car, nothing.

i know its the starter motor but the weird bit is i only replace it about a month or so ago, for those of you who dont know im doing the 1242 conversion, so it hasnt even moved an inch. so why am i on my third or soon to be third so soon? any ideas?

bad earth?

cheers Kris (y)

MIne would only start with the clutch down at one point.

I found the clutch cable was temporarily becoming the engine earth ....it cooked itself unsurprisinly.

The culprit was the gearbox earth that wasnt electrically sound, so the earth pathway was only adequate through the clutch cable...

At the time of that happening, it had been SORNed for 6 months and had only been started once since declared SORN!

It wasnt under regular use then...this was one of my recommission niggles!

Easy way to check if its the earth is to take a single jump lead and attach one end to a shiny engine part, and the other end to a shiny chassis part, or even the negative battery terminal if the battery is still in the front.

Cheers
