She was desined for the scrappy, an 02 sporting with a blown engine and an owner who didn't care... a few weeks later she lives! implated with a 1242cc 75 unit she's MOTed, taxed & insured (90 day as a secondary car on the V70s insurance though), goes like stink too :slayer:.

Now the only question left is do I sort out the punto & sell it or do I sell the Sei'?

99sei, I'm not sure the Sei can handle her self on the motorway as well as the Punto and as I do about 5~8k miles/year in the Punto, 2/3 of those are on the motorway, it is a concern. What she does give me, however, is the opportunity to sort the Punto out nicely and not have to worry about having her out of commission.

bloomfieldliam, the V70 can swallow large loads and chew up 1000 motorway miles in a way that the Punto can only dream of, and as I kinda need two cars around here the Punto does the 'local' trips just fine.

the only differance is the size of the car :p you have a punto engine in there, only thing id say is watch out for side winds otherwise you might find your self flying there :D

99sei, the only difference... after drivin' to work in the Sei' it's a big difference :p

bloomfieldliam, it seems to be returning about 45 mpg for general motorway work, however when we went to Germany it was returning about 32mpg (the lowest I've seen over a tank of derv) at an indicated 140mph! It seems down right impossible on UK roads to get it below 35mpg. Personally I wanted the Alfa 159 Sportwagon 2.4 JTD but it's got an odd shaped boot :(

But do you get the same god-like bellow once the engine hits 4500rpm and boost?

I dunno if the D5 does that...but the T5 definately does, and I would expect the D5 to bellow from 2000rpm myself. :D

The D5 is a 5 cylinder diesel (thanks captain obvious!) so is more of a torquey refined engine than an out and out speed wagon but if need be i ain't shy of the triple figures.

:yeahthat:
The 2.4JTD is the Alfa equiv. of the 2.4 Volvo unit, with a little more power than the Volvo in stock tune.

My D5 on the final run, outside of writing off her front tyres between 1500~3900 rpm, she produced 364lbft (at ~1500rpm) & 271bhp at ~4050 rpm & the turbo kicks in at about 1300rpm.

99sei, the Sei' is a lot more 'jiggly' and unsettled on the motorway than my punto :(
