ok thought i might as well keep using this thread instead of starting new ones.

just went shopping for bits and got everything i needed to do everything apart from the brakes. looked in the champion catalogue for spark plugs and it told me to get OE 016 RC10YCC so bought them.

now reading the haynes manual, it says the 1.1 is a OHC engine and for the OHC engine i need RC9YCC with an electrode gap of 0.9mm but the RC10YCC has only 0.8mm.

so im confused! is there an error in the champion catalogue? does anyone know what the code should be for a 1.1 MPI?

OHC = over head cam, not sure if there may be some difference between champion listings for plugs between mpi sei and cinqs (which im guessing haynes manual is )

well this is why im confused too, in the champion book it said a spacing of 0.9mm. i didnt realise till i got home that it said 0.8 on the box. was just wondering if anyone had the code for the recommended ones for a MPI sei?

Christ, you lot have got it easy!! In my day you bought a set of spark plugs and used your feeler guages to get the gap right. I even have a spark plug gauge on my keyring, just in case.

rally, do you know what the spacing should be? i cant work out wether its 0.8 or 0.9

EdIT just looked at my ones in atm, there NGK's and searched there website and they say i should have 0.7! even more confused now!

In my humble opinion, it doesn't matter a toss whether its .7, .8 or .9. on a normal production engine, not in the first flush of youth. Set it at .8 then if its a bit out you will still be in the range.

well i had a search of sparkplug.co.uk and it said for a MPI it should be 0.7!

But 0.8 for Autolite, 0.7 for Beru and 0.7 for NGK.

I got a feeler gauge, was actually quite suprised i didn't need them last time. Didn't know they came ready these days
