Hi,

sometime next month my engine modifications will be finished (4-2-1 exhaust manifold / 34mm injection thingie / upgraded inlet manifold / camshaft from the punto 75 / 1242ccm engine is already done gsrengineering injection kit and novitec exhaust to follow).
And after the test drive and the dyno I'll decide on the right 5th gear (gight now 195/45-14 and a 10% shorter fifth(which I needed with 15" and 1108ccm and a 280degree camshaft). I want to coordinate the rpm and v/max.
Hard to explain .... let me try with an example ....
if the speed I can reach after a few miles is for example reached at 6500U/min (downhill will increase speed further) but the dynoshows max hp at 5500U/min I'll lenghten the 5th so that at the same speed I'll have around 5500U/min (might then take a little longer to reach vmax, but better for the material and noiselevel at cruise spped on the Autobahn).
Different 5th gears I know of and can play with stock 5th (10% longer that the one I'm driving right now), long 5th (10% longer than stock) or the one from the seicento suite (8% longer than sporting stock).
But as the punto etc are having the same gearbox I wonder if there are some other alternatives ...
As I have to buy a new one anyhow why not get the theoretical optimal one (and hoping that it will be the best in real life too).

Cheers,
Marc

I'm talking about the 5th gear (which can be changed relativly easy).
Has anyone data about the different 5th gears produced by Fiat (in Punto etc).
The Seicento Suite one is 8% longer than the Sporting one > you need to reach the same speed 8% less rpm > sporting 5000prm suite 4600rpm

All I know is that the Punto runs higher gear ratios than the Cinq Sporting...The Parts CD May have something...I'll feedback once I get it working...if there is anything.

Faded red anyone?
