Hi folks. Me again. Wonder if ya can help. Im driving the Seicento 1.1 Sports model, and am looking to completely flush the coolant system out as I think there is very little antifreeze in there at the moment, and wish to correct the balance. So my questions are these: How and where am I able to drain the coolant system out completely, and if anyone knows, whats the capacity that the car holds, as no owners handbook? Thanks again.

P.s For those who have helped me out before, got new timing belt fitted, and am getting oil switch cable fixed soon too. (y)

just undo the 2 bleed screws then take off one of the coolant hoses goin to the radiator, its held on by a jubilee clip(cinq)

my cinqs coolant system was about 1.5 litres antifreeze on a 50/50 mix

all you can do is release the lowest radiator hose.you may need to snap the factory fit metal band and fit a large jubilee clip in its place.
dont have my manual to hand(modding an xbox lol) but if oyu get the capacity remeber you wont fully drain the system so its a bit less.
also you should also remove the thermostat to drain the coolant

Right ok. So whatever happens I need to remove the coolant hose from the rad. Ok. And out of interest, because Im still a noob to these things, why is removing the thermostat a good idea...

p.s Hope the xbox mod goes well :slayer:

Remove the bottom hose to drain the water in the radiator and header, remove the top radiator hose so you can attach hose pipe and flush water through the rad. Remove the thermostat, and then you can flush the water through the engine, as Custard says there is water trapped in the engine.

A couple of words of advice, you will need a new thermostat gasket, or do what i do, get some gasket material and make your own.

Be very carful removing pipes, as Haynes says, it may be better to cut off a rubber hose than have to replace a broken radiator because you yanked it too hard.

And finally, anti freeze is apparantly a sweet tasting and smelling liquid, dogs and cats love to taste it, but it is deadly, so make sure any spills are washed away.

And finally, from memory the capacity of a Cinq sporting system is 4 litres, non sporting is about 5 litres, susggested mix is 50;50 water to anti freeze.
