Something's just gone majorly wrong on the Cinq... The EFI light came on just before the whole engine nigh-on locked up... From the tinkle of little fairy bells I can hear, I presume that some valves have gone and therefore probably the cambelt...

Any ideas where I can get either an 1108cc or 1242cc re-con'd FIRE from?

Isn't it a non-interference engine. Even if the belt goes the engine should be ok. Or am I just being hopeful?

There are shedloads of Puntos sitting in scrappies all around the country. Shouldn't be a problem, nor too spensive either.

Yes, FIRE is a non-interference design...so even if belt has gone- it womt take the valves with it!

If its the EFI thats playing up..

Isn't that the ECU Shagged?? Does it turn over and idle?

Have a look at belts etc, but it could just as easily be a sensor or the whole ECU....

sounds nasty... even thought the engine is non-interference. [V]

If it's any use i've got a spare 1.1 Engine out of my old Seicento Sporting kicking about from my 1242 conversion? It had done 52K and when it came out there was a knocking from the bottom end (suspected bearings), but the head is spot on - maybe my head and your block together may be a possibility?

Or if anyone else wants it......?
