I am planning on renewing all my brakes this summer so have been sorting out bits bobs for them, ok got all the stuff for the front brakes sorted;) so onto the rears.

Decided to price the parts from the following suppliers: -

Local Fiat Stealership

shop4parts

& Desira

So I went to my local place armed with my list today (threw in some non brake related stuff but essential all the same)

1. Brake Back Plates £18.17 each
2. Brake Drums £52.88 each (yes you read that correct!)
3. Brake Shoes £31.53
4. Wheel Cylinders £6.79 each
5. Fuel Filter £11.40
6. Clutch Cable £13.04
7. Rear Hub £47.92 each
8. Oil Filter £9.02
9. Rocker Cover Gasket £5.33

Those prices include VAT which makes the total £322.47 The car is likely worth 3x's that amount!

Anyway, the same parts from shop4parts not including the back plates is £155.16 delivered.

Wonder who I'll phone first? :chin:

Liam

EDIT: Not all parts through the shop4parts quote are OE.

i went to my local dealership yesterday to find out the price of a new window wiper part (the sealed part attached to the end of the motor arm) anyways i went in expecting to pay around £20 they told me it would be £109.87 for just the sealed part and arm, he then told me its a further £120 for just the wiper motor alone. i couldnt belive the prices they where charging!!!

I was after an Idle COntrol Valve for mine. Silly prices.

Local Dealer = £105 +VAT
Local Autofactors = £65 +VAT
Second hand = £5

Bargain!

If you fancy venturing further down the M8 to Whitburn, theres a small store in the tiny Industrial Estate there that do really cheap parts, and can usually order them in for 12pm if you phone first thing in the morning.
Bought new spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, new headlight bulbs and brake light bulbs for £22 total :D
