Hi All

Anyone know if the round FIAT bage on the back of the european sold FIAT 600 (basically, the same as the last seicento sold here) is simply just a badge or is it a cunning Alfa-esque lock cover?

It sits slap bang where the tailgate lock is on my Schumi, and from the few piccies I can find on the 'net there does not seem to be any visable lock anywhere on the tailgate. I've had a few goes at making such a cover myself based on the workings that sat on my old 155, but have not been able to come up with anything that doesn't either look too bulky, or does not move too freely.:(

I am planning to write to FIAT UK to see if they will kindly shed any light on it, but wondered if anyone on here has already looked into this, or seen one closer up in the flesh when they have been overseas.

Any help appreciated as always :worship:

Thanks

Not heard anything about this nor seen anything like it  maybe the pics you've seen are the badges that have just been put on over the lock by the owners themselves? if not i'm stumped :p

Hello Sir

No, the piccies are the official FIAT ones that I found on google images search. All showroom unregistered car type photos.

For example, the 50th anniversary 600;

Not the greatest of angles, but the second photo on the right shows said badge. Looks a little too 'thin' to be a lock cover, but I would not have thought they would do away with the lock.

I'll contact FIAT this week and see what I can find out.

Hmm not quite sure in that case :(

although the 50th anniversary wasnt a production model i dont think, only ever seen press release things about it and how it was going to be the sei's replacement iirc, although have seen that 600 badge on a couple of cars i think so not quite sure on this one, sorry

maybe they've done away with the lock and put a boot release inside to stop idiots like me locking their keys in the boot :bang: (y)

Cinq's and Sei's have a remote boot release anyway!!! So yeah, I would've thought they'll have removed it, and instead of pressing a new boot lid without the hole will have just covered it with a badge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suppose that means the 600's are easier to de-lock!

Cheers,
Jon+Em

Maybe the lock itself on the new 600 be fused within the badge??

A bit of a weird mod if i say so myself, a big, fat, giant badge slapped on the middle of your boot would attract more and the wrong type of attention IMO
