Just wondering is the parcel shelf in a base cinq strong enough to take two 6'x9's or does it need re-inforcing? What did other people do with theirs? thanks.

Also how do you go about re-covering the side panels in the doors?

Can't think of one so ill just write this.

I have 2 6x9's in the shelf without any strengthening at all. Not by choice, they came with the car, and i'd rather have them then 2 huge holes [:0]

Another day...another problem...

The shelf will happily support 2 6x9's with no support. the good thing about the shelf is that the holes can be cut in 5 mins with a sharp stanley knife! Easy Peasy!

oh dear forgot to ask these questions...
how big should i cut the holes? like 1 cm in from size of speakers or wot? n shud i screw it down or is that pointless?

screw them in too. might need nuts and bolts instead as the shelf is made of fibre and self-tapping screws usually dont hold them in

No cardboard template. theres a plastic thing that goes on top of the speaker between the cover n speaker, think that is a good enough thing if i draw round the inside of it?

lol, btw if you dont want to worry about cutting holes im sure someone who has 6x9's in their parcel shelf at the mo is willing to trade one with holes for one without

That seems to be the best bet, good strong baffle and relitivley small air space behind for decent bass response.

Just remember that a sub in the boot sharing the same airspace as 6x9's on the shelf will kill the 6x9's eventually. Just think, the bass from the sub can give quite a kick when your sat in the drivers seat, just think what the 6x9's feel? Over time, the bass can push the cones of the 6x9's straight off the surround.

I still think your better off with components in the dash and a sub in the boot.
