Hi All

Trying to replace the inner gaiter on my wifes 899 sei and i cant get the new bearing onto the shaft. I have tried a piece of plastic tbing and whacking it with a lump hammer but no luck. Any ideas on what would be better to whack the bearing on?

Also, i loosened the nut on the track rod end ball joint and used a seperator to split the joint. But when i came to trying to undo the bolt it spins the whole nut. So i cant undo or do up this bolt. Any ideas???

Thanks in advance

Cy

Needs more of a constant pressure than impacts, which doesn't help unless you have a press tucked down behind the sofa with all those 50p bits.

The ball joint needs pressure applied in the opposite direction to the nut tightening. So if you are tightening upwards, put a lever in and pull downwards on the joint. If its a downwards tighten, the put an axle stand or jack applying upward pressure.

Cheers

ok cool, got the ball joint done thanks.

Now any suggestions for the bearing?

Sod it, I used the old bearing in the end and it went on without too much whacking. i just hope it doesnt leak.

I am bloody frozen now, been out there for five hours thanks to the bearing. Once i resolved to use the old one it took forty minutes

Thanks for the help anyway
