Hi guys n gals

Two days ago the oil light on my P reg sporting started to blink at me while on a 30 mile trip , the engine was warm so i thought the oil must have been a tad low .

Yesterday checked the level and all was fine , toped up the level and thought that would be the end of it but today its back with a vengeance.

I did a 60 mile round trip and it has been blinking for most of it .

It doesn't matter how hot the engine is or the position of the peddle or even the revs, it just flashes on then off then partly on ( dim ) the off for a few Min's then flashes a few time etc etc etc :bang:

I haven't had a look at any of the sensors yet as its dark but I like to know if anyone has had this situation before or any guidance.

I don't have an oil leak.
Oil level is just under max.
engine temp is as it should be.
I fitted a new filter and did an oil change less than 400 miles ago.
it has 60k on the clock.
No blue smoke (no smoke of any sort from the pipe)

I hope its a sensor :worship:

Could well be the sensor or more often the connector, take a look of you can, its a single wire on a black unit about an inch long down by the bottom pulley on the filter housing.

(poor descrpition i know)

Would be worth going to a garage for a manual pressure test.

Hi, I have the same problem but if you read the manual that came with your Cinq when new it says that this can happen after a long run and is nothing to worry about at idle speed. As long as the light goes out when you blip the pedal this is OK!
This is the only time I have read this in a manufactuers User Manual!

I have owned the car for two years and have done a 600 mile trip with no flashing, I'm thinking it's little bit more of an issue.
I will read the manual and see what it has to say.

It only flashed when its in gear and in motion , if I'm parked and in neutral it wont illuminate :bang:

You sure???? never seen that one.

If the oil light comes on at idle id' be very concerned.

Id have thought the book would say
"should the oil light become illuminated, take your car to a Authorised Fiat Dealer"
 
my oil light flickers while ticking over but as iv got a spare cinq ill try swapping the sensor.
im not too worried either way cos ill just put a 1242 in there if need be

to be honest i just need the cinq to last untill june when i get my new car.

If it blows up ill buy another cheap car instead of messing around with a 1242.
I'm 29 so i can insure anything i like for not much ££££££

i really dont want the agro so a fix is the best situation
 
for peace of mind, if it has got pressure probs, it wont be intermittent, just very low when warm, typically, just call round some local garages and ask for a price on a manual pressure test. Get the car warm and take it in. Will reveal all, should only cost 10-20 pounds if there frendly!
 
hi guys
sorry to be a pain have had the same problem with this changed oil and filter 2 times and the engine is really noisey rattling over 3,000 rpm oil light comes on only when warm or hot i think my self its the oil pump i woz told this is a common problem can anyone be sure money is tight for me at the moment

Poss blocked oil feed or broken sensor.

If the oil pump is dead it would stop feeding oil to the head, and that would sieze very quickly!
