i removed my k + n 57i this morning because i spotted the small rubber hose at the rear of it had split, but when i took off the filter there was a mayo type gunge everywhere!!!!!! turns out i had a blockage and that had caused the breather pipe from the cam cover to gunge up and eventually blow this muck into my k+n!! took ages to clear it.i now have a dry type of noise coming from the engine bay area? just had timing and fan belts replaced so one of the pulleys might need a bit of an oil! any ideas on this dry noise? sounds like when bearings go dry and need lubed up!

WHEN THIS BABY HIT'S 88...YOUR GONNA SEE SOME SERIOUS s**t!

1st thing i would check is your belt tensions 2nd id check the condition of timing belt tensioner ,could just be the fan belt is a bit tight and its putting a strain on the alternator bearings although i had a fan belt prob before and nothing i did stopped the noise untill i put some "belt quietner" spray on it but id check tension etc 1st cos it can bugger up ur alternator
