Hey all,

Just checking to see if anyone has ripped out there
back seats and put in a sound system.
The reason for asking is that i've taken all the seats etc. out
and the floor plan is up and down everywhere, i wanna board this out but seems really hard to do.

Cheers
Rob

no, i aint dont it but boarding it over will be very simple to do, if u got the rite tools.

Just set up wood spacers so you can flat it all out with a single large sheet of MDF.

Whats wrong with the boot? It'll likely get broken into with it all on show.

cheers i'll give it a go.

My cinq is used mainly for cruises and shows etc. and i have
another diesel car that i use for day to day driving. so i'm not
bothered about it all being on show.

i'll let you know how it goes.

btw, taken all the seats out now apart from the passenger bucket seat, and you can feel the difference in acceleration :)
(until the subs go in - lol)

Sweet, ive had the back seats out before, and could notice a difference. No way would i put a sub in without removing the rear seats, that'll be hell under hard acceleration, weight really shows in a Cinq.

As for the boot floor pan idea, let me know how you get on, i'm having serious thoughts with ideas for the Cinq, as the Corsa SRi idea has been dropped, due to massive insurance. Speaking of insurance, if i rip all the seats out, and just have 2 buckets in the front, am i invalidating my insurance?

Not having any rear seats shouldnt effect insurance, but then again
they always ask how many seats !! they are normally flexible when it comes to the interior.

Just purchased some 2 x 12" JBL subs, so nows the question what
type of layout shall i do? gonna have to think up some designs b4 cutting up loads bits of mdf !

If you can, get hold of the MAX power ICE haynes manual. Its a great book for DIY ICE installs, and professional looks. I've drawn up a few plans in the past for a dual-10" set-up, but never anything concrete.

Some systems use the air from bass-ported subs to keep amps cool, got a feeling that everyone will be doing that next year. You uprgrading the alternator/battery?

why not just have power caps instead of uprating the battery, u can get them quite cheap and will draw the power from them if needed instead of the battery

I have been told mixed reviews about power caps, but as a cheap alternative I will be using one soon, saves the headlights dipping on every bass note

A Power cap is a good idea on any system. Car power lines are amazingly noisy and often go to voltages above 14v..not much like the 12v stated!

Its not clever trying to run precision equipment like amps on car power without any filtering and protection. A power cap would give some very slight protection, as it smoothes out the power being supplied, stopping surges.

Arse

Ill think of something witty....just wait and see............wait I might not.

I wish my audio had 'surges' 16v would be handy sometimes!

A power cap doesnt stop any surges, it stops dips. Just think of it as a mini battery (I know they're not the same but a second battery would act in the same way) that is used in reserve when the bass drops low and loud!

I dont know that much about caps or running a second battery but I believe it is fairly simple to wire up.

For the cost of a cap and all the cabling and installation time its worth just paying a bit extra and getting a yellow top or a stinger and stick it in the spare wheel well.

An extra battery is simple, battery, 2 wires and some fuses. Just make sure the alternator is up for double the workload :)

Another day...another problem...
