can universal blue be used for the head gasket in a cinquecento 899.
Had to take the head off and the local motor factor is going to take 10 days to get me a replacement head gasket and asking a stupid price.

No dont do it, it wont work. 10 days you can buy a sheet of copper for less and make an old school motorsport one in that time. Try some of the places in the recommended sites link.

yes mate checked that out the motor factor was just selling the head gasket not the kit going to order me one of those cheers.

took the old head gasket out of the car which was in not bad nick. Cleaned it of with scotch brite. Put a layer of universal blue on each side and refitted. Running a treat no leaks. Also cleaned my tappets and refitted after a short run they are purring not hammering like a sewing machine.

ive used that blue jam on cnc machines with a spindle speed of upto 20000 rpm i can assure you from an ENGINEERS point of view (which i am) it wont break down if you do it right.

Yea i've heard of the uni blue engine putty working well.. My Grandad is a fond user of it on water pumps (all sorts of things mowers-cars) etc etc hes also done a few head gaskets wit it.. - he says its not optimum but can be fine if you use it right (espeically if you might think u need a skim.,..)

17 year old boy and you have what experience?
what does that matter? and we dont know anything about you as you havent put any additional info on your profile? what sort of engineer are you? one that re-uses an head gasket sealing it with universal sealer? like i said before hope you got breakdown cover!

I agree with D...it works, so what?

Its not quite the best or most comnmon procedure to use, but if it works....why mock it?

If it doesnt work...then its back to the drawing board!! :D
