I want to change the steering wheel on my P reg 899 for a nicer one, what are my options?

I thought a cinq sporting wheel but would this fit on the 899's column?

Are there any other non-airbag fiat wheels which would fit?

I don't want to go aftermarket as it gets expensive and insurance companies get funny about it.

cheers

The cinq sporting wheel is the same as the 899cc isnt it

As for an alternative non airbag wheel, the seicento non airbag version steering wheel will fit in your cinq.

Not sure about others im sure all the main players like MOMO and OMP would have something to cater for you but someone with a better knowledge on sterring wheels will be along shortly :)

The cinq sporting wheel is a leather version of the 899 wheel. The rim is slightly thicker, its not a bad wheel at all. Anything else is going to need a boss kit and the price will rise. Some Abarth Cinqs had a nice multi coloured leather wheel, but they are quite rare.

Cheers

i fitted a momo 3 spoke to my cinq.slightly smaller diamiter than standard plus a thicker rim.

wheel and boss(both momo)were 2nd hand off ebay.think it cost about £50 all in.
to get them at that price you need to shop around and do a bit of sniping mind.

also with the boss the wheel is a little closer to the driver which i prefer

Thanks guys, I did a search before asking this and got loads of conflicting information, including something which said the 899 and sporting columns were different.

I'll go out tomorrow when the scrappys are open and look for a sporting wheel i think, unless anyone here's got one kicking around that they want to sell me :) ?

Also i might count the splines on the column and go looking for a nice Punto wheel which will fit.

There are 2 different colums that I'm aware of - the cinq one up to late 97 ish, and late 97 on where the sei column was used :)
