Christ what a ball ache of a job! Cable itself hadn't broken, it was the hook.

I already had my carpet out as I'm on with wiring up my car stereo, but I ended up taking the passenger seat and ECU out!

There's a shield that covers the clutch pivot thing that you can't get easy access to because the bloody lower part of the dashboard is in the way. Feck knows if that comes out but I couldn't do it  . Needless to say, I haven't replaced that shield.

Fingers crossed it will last, I don't want to do that again in a hurry!

I think its very often the hook that breaks, not the actual cable. Its a bit of poor design really. The hook is cast in a cheap grade metal. With it being cast it means that it is very brittle so therefore cannot be twisted or bent very far without breaking. If you look at the angle at which the load of the clutch is being applied to the hook you can see why it snaps so frequently. It is being pulled perpendicular to its direction of travel and perpendicular to the curvature of the hook.

Yeah on my SPI Sei i found it a farce to get the split pins in and out. Didn't help when i found out that someone had stuck an alarm unit to the cover plate aswell. I did find that the dashboard was in the way most of the time, but i just swore a lot and eventually got a mate with more patience to do it.
