How hard is it to put central locking in my new cinq. i picked it up 2day and the misses now what central locking and Electric Windows. :bang:

Need a bummy guild.

I dont know bout the e/w but there are c/l kits you can buy as an upgrade. Not a difficult proceedure as i understand will have a look for a thread

have a look on eper (theres a thread in the news section incase you missed it!!) and see what parts are involved. Print that off then go to the scrappy and pinch them off a car. You'll need all of it bar the actual locks and the door pins. It'll be cheaper than buying a universal kit, plus you can see where it all goes before you try and fit it!! same ghoes with the E/W.

no that wont work apple - the kits you buy off ebay are remote central locking kits, e,g, they add the remote to existing cental locking

if youve bought an S or SX cinq/sei then you can rob the bits off a sporting in a scrappers

i have done this to my old cinq s (well big bro did )

my bro is very competent with auto-electrics as hes been working in a car electrics place for like 5 years - between us it took us about 3 hours to strip the car at the scrappers nearly giving up on several occasions - then it took a further 3 or 4 hours to fit at home.

the electric windows and central locking units are quite intermingled so you cant fit one and not the other

basically you have to remove all of the innerds of both doors and replace with electric runners and electriconic servo thingy ma bobs for the door pins

then run all the cabling through the door hinge area and bring them to the passenger footwell where central locking units etc needed to be fitted - oh and then wires run to the buttons which replace the spare blanking plates next to the stereo

there may be a thread about how my bro did this in more detail somewhere

if your not competent at electrics i wouldnt attempt it really

Sx has central locking anyway. Well i know the mk2's do.

Ahh i see, well the mention of a cinq was the reason i posted that thread
