would i be able to use a x reg seicento gearbox on my p reg cinquecento, cheers

First of all  Welcome to FF

I believe that it'd be OK to chuck the sei g/box on :) No doubt I'll be corrected if I'm wrong :D

I was assuming FIRE lumps :)

If they're 899s, then I see no problems (y)

A few issues I noticed..

Sei's have electric speedo's

Also looking at pictures of the sei ones the mounting brackets looked slightly different...

So in short

I dunno

There is no issue of the box and engine mating, but in short anything that bolts to the gearbox, (mounts (2x) and clutch slave, gear selector etc) need to be taken off and swapped over. Visually if they look like the same clutch selector etc then leave it.

Yeah that's what I noticed although I only had a picture of the sei box and not it physically there (n) so wasn't certain.

only real issue is the mounts and the speedo cable.

I know that the puntos have a sensor that it plugs into for the ecu but I haven't looked at the cinq one much as we haven't needed to take it out yet.

(y) I recently swapped the high mileage gearbox on my P reg Cinq Sporting for a very low mileage one off a crashed 2003 Sei Sporting (MPI) and it was completely straightforward beyond having to retain the original front nearside support bracket (ie junk the Sei one), and pull out the Sei speedo drive "bit" from the speedo take-off point on the gearbox housing and replace it with the original Cinq cable attachment. (As far as I remember, the rear mounting bracket didn't need to be swapped.)
