Having a problem and its really getting to me.
My fuel gauge has stopped working.
Assume it must need power going to it, but there is none, have checked fuses and everything is fine there,
Anyone got any ideas as to what could be wrong please?
It's a 95 899 cinquecento

First place i would be looking is the instrument cluster, check connections, solders on back, they can be cause off dials not working.

I'm not familiar with Cinq' fuel senders but it could be a plastic "float" with a potentiometer attached to it. At this age, it's a candidate for worn/dirty.

I don't know how you can check the signal wire. The fuel pump itself is powered but the sender wire should be separate to the pump wires. You need to verify what signal it's sending, since I imagine even a duff sensor would be sending something.

If the fuel gauge doesn't even flicker, then it could be an instrument problem... but I'd say this is less likely than a sender problem... and knowing whether there's a signal at all is the most logical place to start.
