Just a general question, but was ABS / power steering ever available on the Cinq, even as an option?

What were the options on a Cinquecento? I recall it might have been a driver's airbag (in which case you got a different steering wheel and stalks) and a glass sunroof, but anything else?

Some options were available but they depended from models and markets such:

- Air conditioned
- Electric power windows
- Central lock doors + trunk lid system
- Rear seat 1/3-2/3
- Headlights regulation from inside the car

Hi David,

Even if EPER call them HID lights they're in fact halogen bulbs H4, I doesn't know why they're called HID and it's seem that those denomination was only for French market.

Anyway not xenon bulbs but the good old classic halogen bulbs.
Cinq didn't get ABS or Power Steering.

LHD could have HID headlights though, which was a surprise.

And there were also a canvas sunroof in some versions like "Soleil" but I doesn't know if it was an option also or not

I wonder what was different to warrant a different headlight unit then.
The listed price of the bulbs was also 10x the price of the standard one.

I did think HID was a bit exotic for a Cinq though! :)

I've found in my collection of old car brochures a Fiat price list for 1 December 1996. The only Cinq options were:

airbag + seat belt pre-tensioners - £198.58
metallic paint - £122.20
Glass sunroof - £165.68

Is the question "Could I buy a Cinq' with ABS/power steering fitted" (No)… or "Can I fit ABS / power steering to my Cinq'?"

If it's the latter... didn't the Seicento (Cinq' in a curvy suit) have these options? If so, the parts are out there and ought to be a straightforward "insert", even though in terms of the ABS, that's a lot of parts.

The OP hasn't gone into much detail but IMO the need for power steering in a Cinquecento is pretty low. It can be done but you have to get 'inventive' with what you do with the PS motor sticking up behind the dash

Do you want ABS in a Cinquecento? My mum has a Schumacher Seicento (standard ABS) but it has never shown itself to be particularly useful. When i drive it in a 'spirited fashion' the ABS only kicks in when on loose gravel or wet roads when it basically reduces your braking the same as sliding with locked wheels does

These cars are so light that if ABS was your last resort you're already through the wall
