Assuming the car is insured, the cheapest thing to do is get it replaced through your insurance. Shouldn't affect NCB unless your insurers are terrible.

Been off the road for the last 5 years, bought it the other day with smashed windscreen, been quoted nearly 300 quid ???

I kicked the old window out. Cleaned and prepped everything myself and got a new window fitted for about £150.

£300 is a quote from someone who doesn't want to do it!
