Hi all,
Need some help here adjusting my C526 box with dual bowden cables. Panda, 1108 SPI, c.a. 2000 (AFAIU, same 5spd box is in the early cinqs)
Gears selected PERFECTLY before this fiasco.
Background;
Went to my "friendly local mechanic" to remove gearbox for cleaning out broken teeth resulting from broken teeth on 5th gear driver. Put in 0.82 gear set as the 0.73 are NLA
Replaced bearings, as well as clutch complete. This took 7 weeks :-(((
I finally took 3 days off work to babysit them to close damn box and re-install. Good thing I was there, as the 6 spring loaded pins in the 2 hubs were put in wrong. Yes dismantle box again....
After reinstalling box, gear selection is hosed.
1. Initially, Lever was all way to left (1st/2nd). 3,4,5th and reverse very difficult to engage
2. Next morning Mech said he centered it, but said it "crept" back max left again
3. Said some spring was weak and went and bought a (similar?) spring
4. As it sits now a bit better centered, 1,2 ok (not really), coin toss wether you find 3rd or 5th.
5. Downshifting from 5th to 4th is a coin toss again, mostly finding reverse :-((((
Again note gear selection was perfect before.
Took the car home with him saying come back for another try....
Guy is useless. I only took it there as I'm renovating my shop and I was friend w/ his dad (RIP)
Can anyone outline what I need to do to get this adjusted? I really don't feel like re-inventing the wheel here and studying EPER.
I don't know if he popped the ball joints on the cables or unscrewed them (if they unscrew).
Dont remember if ball ends in gearbox end adjust? Fore aft/left right??
Is there an adjustment in the lever in the cabin?
Is there an adjustment under the cover on the gearbox? Saw some post on using screwdriver/needle nose to adjust some thing. It was not clear, photos dont show.
Searched some old posts, but....
Appreciate it,
Never again....
Nick
