Hi guys

Took fuel tank off to replace and when refitting with same pump now not starting.

Not priming on key turn - is there a fuel cut off?

Thanks.

Ross

I remember reading that there is a fuel cut off under the dash.

Are you sure you have not disturbed the wire inside the tank/pump.

You could have cracked the hose between the pump and the tank outlet.

Ok bad to worse.

Got pump priming as connection within the pump was disconnected. Car started and ran - shut it off. Secured down inspection panel.

Car wouldn’t start again. took nozzle off pump outlet - plenty of fuel into a container.

Attempted to remove fuel line from fuel rail - snapped the end off the rail [emoji58]

Purchased new rail on eBay - whilst pipe off attempted to crank and no fuel getting to the rail.

So I know the fuel was leaving the pump - but not arriving at the fuel rail - I can hear it priming.

Is it possible to trap the tank onto a fuel line? Only parts that had been touched was the fuel tank and fuel pump.

Any additional suggestions welcome.

Daft question.. got the hoses on correctly?

Pump should build rail pressure then shut off.

Sounds like you are pushing air around..

Might be worth checking fuel supply under bonnet

Is there not only one hose?

Filter is in the pump on MPI, and yes it is possible to trap a pipe if its not routed correctly.

D

I have to consider all options currently.

If the pump is priming - there is power. We have disconnected the outlet and there is fuel being expelled from the pump. So from there to the front of the car it’s a fuel pipe.

We have accidentally broken the fuel rail trying to remove the pipe to check whether there was fuel getting to the rail - even so, with this disconnected there is no fuel being expelled from the pipe.

‘FPS on’ has appeared on the dash since breaking the fuel rail - I imagine there is a fuel pressure sensor and it’s detected an issue?

Thanks guys.

Ross-

do you own a Sei, yeah??

This isn't a Coupe issue, no?

There are only three things that will stop the engine-

crank sensor, fuel cut-off switch, or the fuel pump.

There are three hoses leaving the tank if I remember correctly; one is a breather, and the other two are a send & return to the furl rail and pressure regulator.

Fuel cut off switch has been pressed.

Crank sensor - would need to be really freak to all of a sudden stop working. I will try and get a scanner on it.

Fuel pump is pumping - I’m thinking it’s a fuel line.

Quick question.

I’ve bought a replacement fuel rail - looking at the pictures it looks like the plastic connector is attached to the fuel hose that goes to the bulkhead?

Or am I wrong?

Got it fixed - there was a loose connection in the pump. It was priming but not enough power to deliver the fuel down the line - now working fine.

Still waiting on fuel rail arriving. Changed front right suspension for new shocks and springs - the strut bolt and nut are worn so will need to source some new ones!

Getting closer to getting it back on the road.

It gets better and better. The fuel rail was broken so now replaced but the connector at the end of the fuel pipe was also broken! I’ve contacted lots of breakers etc but finally someone on Facebook has the part I need.

Also got the suspension bolts from fluffy at ECC. So hopefully be running by Xmas. Whether all the mods are done is a different thing.
