would a saxo 1.1 8v engine fit a 899 cinq, as it looks about the same size as a mk2 punto sporting engine, or is there any other engines that would fit?

sigh, all common engine swaps are well covered in the forum

does the engine fit well as will be said with any such conversion it can fit but will require x amount of work. measure it!
how old are you?

edit: just checked your age as it was as i suspected.your wasting your time even dreaming off this conversion as you would be lucky to get anyone to cover you let alone quote. and pictures of engines dont tell you if it will fit

If thats the same engine that was in my mate's saxo, I wouldn't swap it.

It's just poor. I'm not saying it because I hate Saxos, but I've actually driven the 1.1 and it's gutless.

Of course, this test was done having just stepped out of my Seicento Sporting!

Trust me mate, I wouldn't do it if I was you

Well I did discuss the idea of a 1600 Honda VTec Engine in a Cinq...if the dimensions of the driveline (engine-gearbox) will fit in the engine bay, getting driveshafts made up isnt a problem (I found a place by chance in Morecambe the other week called Driveline Engineering).

Getting the coolant circuit etc in and fuelling and gearchange linkage etc is the problem. Plus then theres actually bodging engine mounts onto the chassis in a safe fashion! Its not impossible by a long shot, just very hard work!

A totally pointless idea IMO. If you want a 1.1 cinq, buy a sporting.

He's only 16

How's he even got a car

btw, in my opinion getting a sporting isn't the same as putting a sporting engine in. I'm very attached to my Seicento, and would be be very upset to see it go, even if it was being replaced with a Sporting.

I suspect the reason why he wants to put a Paxo engine in a Cinq is probably because he either has one, or can easily get one. If he had a Punto engine I'm sure he'd put that in.

899 to 1108 can be done - Rob Random Cruiser has done it to his Solieil. RallyCinq's car started off as a 899 too. But it isn't a straight forward swap. I can see why you'd want to do it with a special edition, but it does seem a bit pointless doing it for a base model, especially when a sporting is only slightly more expensive. It would probably be easier/cheaper to insure a sporting than an engine swapped S/SX too.

putting a bigger eninge into the 899 is not as straight forward as putting the 1242 into a sporting.

but i suspect using a 1242 into an 899 will be the same amount of work as an 1108. Fitting a saxo engine will be even more work i reckon.

btw, in my opinion getting a sporting isn't the same as putting a sporting engine in.

true, but there is more to a sporting than just its engine. Like the ARB and the lower ride height.

a 1.1 saxo engine was only an idea, i would like a vts or vtr engine because its a small but powerful engine and is different to what every other cinq owner does i.e punto engine or bolting on turbo's etc...

you am mad or rich i dont know? and probably not even able to attempt this yourself, i dont know, surely getting a sporting would just be allot easyer buddy?
