a 1.1 saxo engine was only an idea, i would like a vts or vtr engine because its a small but powerful engine and is different to what every other cinq owner does i.e punto engine or bolting on turbo's etc...

But you can't even drive, and you're talking about serious engine transplants? Good luck trying to insure it. (n)

I can understand where you are coming from on this, even with me being an old git, so the basics are as follows.

You can fit any engine you want in your cinq.

The amount of work will depend on your undoubted mechanical genius.

But, try getting insurance for a modified vehicle at your age and you will be in for a very nasty shock to the wallet.

Lets look at this simple example.

Most people have sex lying down, some do it standing up. Not many people try it standing up in a hammock. It doesn't mean its a good thing just because nobody else does it.

Cheers

I can see where you're coming from, but the Saxo engine will be a lot of work to fit. And its really not a very good engine.
A Fiat FIRE engine would be much easier to fit and comes in various flavours from 999cc (~45bhp) to 1242 16v (~85bhp).

I think you would be better off buying another 899 and fitting that, running it for a year or 2 to build up some no claims, then think more about mad engine conversions. (y) May I suggest a mid-mounted small-block Chevy V8? :D

you are planning of insuring it if/once it gets done arent you

An engine swap is an engine swap... from the insurers PoV, your car becomes hybridized with its risk based on the car the engine was taken out of. eg: If I fitted a 5.6L Chevy V8 in the Cinq, my insurance would be based on the car that 5.6L V8 engine came out of!

i think some how there has been a miss understanding here, im going to run it a 899cc for about a 1year - 2years and then do the 'metal' engine swap.

Then why the hell didn't you say that?

hes got ambition! dont be so mean u lot! now u know why im not telling ya what im gonna do!
ps they are right about the insurance i cant get mine till im 19 no-one will touch engine conversions till then fact!
al thats been sed is true! u can make ne fin fit its just how much its gonna take to do it! if ur gonna have a one off show car at the end of the day then go for it!
if ya just want a faster modded car then its not the best option!
xxx

haha this was my 666 post! dont slate me!

And i happen to agree with alaina,

without sounding patronising to the young guy.... remember what it was like when you had your first car. Looking at it imagining what your gonna do to it etc etc. It's fun. Using your imagination.

Get's a bit less fun when you actually start having to think about financing the project. but hey ho, it's still fun.

He may surprise you all. good advice about the insurance but don't totally quash his dreams.

Thats a straight 6 I think.....With that thing's driveline youde have to widen the Cinq by a good foot or so and give it another 2 ft at the back!

That would be very very scary though!!
