Hi all.
thought i would tackle the noisy pump today.
Ordered a cam belt kit a few months ago that included beating and the water pump.
All things went pretty well with removal, but foolishly i fitted the water pump only to find the belt supplied has a different pitch.
Ahhhh... Tried the original belt that is is good condition but it did not time up.
Yep the pump is also the wrong pitch.
So i will have to buy another pump, now the only part number i can find on the original is B714 7C, but a quick google gets me nowt?.
Can anyone help with a supplier please.
2001 MP1 Sporting
Thanks.

Well i have an issue.
Overheating...
Bled both taps, pumped all the pipes, heater is nice and hot, fan comes on.
But if i leave it ticking over long enough it will bubble up in the expansion tank.
No mayo anywhere
I thought at 1st i might have over filled it with coolant as i topped up to the max.
Ideas guys?

Is the cap sealing properly?

Sounds like a head gasket failure between the water jacket and combustion chamber.
Could be.
But when my 899 Cinq had the head gasket fail like that it was sucking coolant into the combustion chamber whenever I closed the throttle.

I managed to drive home, but quickly without ever coming completely off of the throttle...... Which must have sounded odd whenever I had to stop...!!
If I closed the throttle it sucked the cylinder full and locked.

But if he isn't loosing any coolant, it maybe isn't that.
I never had it boil over during that issue either, but that could have just been luck and being a Cinq I had a temperature gauge, not just a panic light!!

My old cinq had a seized/faulty thermostat once. Stuck shut so it drove about 2 miles then overheated! Worth taking the thermostat out of the housing just to check if it still overheats?

Then theres the rad? Perhaps its clogged up and inneficient, alhough it expect it to be very hot day for that to become a problem. The radiators are so cheap in my opinion it's worth replacing it anyway if its old.

And the cap, unlikely but possible it can handle the pressure!?

Also if your keeping the car - I'd fit a temp gauge too :D you can get nice black subtle ones that fit nicely under the radio.

Ive decided to flush out the whole system.
I want to clean out the reservoir so will take that off.
can i put a water hose into the pipe from the reservoir to the rad and turn the engine over and it will circulate back to the small pipe at the top and drain out?.

So... Today i whipped off the coolant reservoir, cleaned that up. Flushed the entire system for 1/2hr and added coolant ( red this time ).
Got it up to temperature, bled it all until i could see the red fluid coming out.
Tick over is great, no steam out the exhaust and it seems the overheating is now under control.
BUT.
This car has gave me a final kick in the plums by not reving over 3000.
No EML, took off the positve off the battery for 1/4hr, but still the same.
Read the codes and have 4.
P0300 - Cylinder miss fire Generic
P0135 - O2 sensor circular bank 1 sensor 1
P0340 - Camshaft sensor
P0120 - Throtal/pedal position sensor switch A
Now i cant see that all of these sensors have gone doolally?.
So it maybe 1 that is throwing all the rest out, disconnected the front manifold lambda sensor and when restarted nothing changed and still no EML and didnt rev.
So it might be this one.
I have an MOT for Friday as its already over a week overdue, and although it pains me i might just let the Garage sort it if its not something i have missed.
Any clues guys?.
