Looking for specific parts to install A/C on my 1.1 Seicento.

Compressors, evaporators, condensors, and switches can be bought online...easily.

However i am after those parts that are not sold online such as:

- The bracket that holds the compressor onto the engine block (under the
alternator)
- The hosing in the engine bay that attaches the compressor to evaporator to condensor together for the refrigerant to flow through.

Scrappers usually throw away these parts but maybe someone might know of one that is on its way to the dump.

he's got a thread going about his wife's Cinq.

He has the first 'cento I've ever heard of with A/C, and some if not all of it will be relevant to the Sei, also...
 
Easiest way to obtain such parts is from a complete but scrap car.
Aircon was a very rare thing on a Sei in the UK. It was an option on the Sporting, but I've only ever seen one used for sale with it. There was a special edition, 'Suite' which was an SX, but with 1108 engine and aircon, but only 500 of them in the UK.

Hotter countries are likely to have had more aircon cars, but sadly most will be at breakers by now.
 
Bill is correct, super super rare in the UK, I had one with it and never seen another in the metal.
Probably best bet is to contact people on ebay, sellers from Italy, Germany etc. It was much much more common on the continent and I've had great success buying hard to find bits of fiat from Italy where its all alot easier to come by.
The bracket that bolts to the engine is super super heavy though so may cost alot to get posted, it actually hold both the alternator and compressor so the compressor sits more where the alternator would normally sit.
 
Side note on this I just thought of... The system doesnt have anywhere for the condensate to go, its a very silly design. So if you are fitting one I highly suggest drilling a hole and somehow fitting a pipe for the condensate to run down and out - otherwise it eventually fills up and just pisses out inside the car

That's a surprising comment.
My Suite used to tiddle on the floor, as expected, so there must have been a drain on mine. Perhaps production standards were poor, and non-aircon heater boxes were sometimes used.
 
the box just has a hole drilled in some i seen pics of, not sure if thats factory but mine didnt have a hole at all, possibly just a random fiat-ism, cinqs and sei often had random different parts they shouldnt. Alot of later sei have the 866 cam from the mk1 punto75 for example. Fiat must've just had some extra of them at the factory, or a lack of correct cams or something. Some cinqs had the 32mm tb on from the punto60 and not the 30mm it should have. lol

Thats what i was hoping for but they're also very rare here in Malta. Before i bought my Sporting i was about to buy one that had a/c however the car was well overpriced. Come to think of it now, i should have bought it because i never saw another with a/c for sale :cry:
 
I've exhausted the internet trying to find the parts i need. Scrappers tend to throw away the parts i need, or don't bother looking for them due to the 'small' profit they'd make :( Most of them only have the obvious parts like condensers, evaporators (which i can buy new online). I've contacted tons of scrapyards in the Netherlands since they have many of them there. Ebay = nothing. I've also tried to find contacts to Italian scrap yards - since there are many with a/c in Italy (saw tons on the road on my last holiday to Sicilia), but have had no luck yet...:(

Here is one of the parts i am looking for - which i cannot seem to find anywhere (ePER, ebay, forums, scrapyards, etc). Picture for reference
 
I got air con in my Seicento! Enjoyed it in Italy and in the UK but the engine is quite burdened by the demand, for an car which is prone to overheating this causes a little bit more.


That Seicento is end of life (150k miles) so I bought another car with the plan to move it all across. I can give you insight but not ready to give up the kit. sorry. Paul C
 
Actually just last week i got in touch with a Sicilian scrapyard who has a SPI and is willing to send me all the parts i need. However it would be greatly appreciated if you could (if possible) share some photos of how the compressor and alternator are bolted to the engine. Regards, Jeremy
 
i dont have pics, but the big plate bolts to the engine and then the compressor goes at the bottom and the alternator at top, with belt from crank to compressor and then another belt from compressor to alternator.

Then theres a bracket shaped like an italic V that bolts to the engine block and one prong has a long bolt that goes through the bracket and right throught ecompressor to the other side to tighten down, then theres a smaller bracket/brace that goes on the belt side of the engine to compressor.

Sounds complicated but really isnt when you have it all in front of you.
 
I imagine the mounting plate / brackets / bolts vary from the SPI to the MPI engine. The Sicilian breaker is supposed to be sending me all the parts i need for my SPI engine. Fingers crossed everything fits!
 
no shouldnt matter, the block of a spi 1108 and mpi 1108 should be exactly same, all the differences are in the head. The fire block design has changed very very little over the years, certainly my old panda 750 engine block had all the same mounting points as all the cinqs/seis i've owned which in turn had all the same bolt holes as mk1 punto 55/60/75/85 engines.
you can even drop a modern tjet engine in a cinq/sei and then bolt up all the ancillaries from a cento to it as the AC setup and oil cooling setup etc wont fit in a cento engine bay.
The only difference I have been able to find between blocks is the height (based on capacity, a 1108 is same as a 1242 except the 1242 is few mm taller) and the ribs on the block exterior that add strength have changed which can make a few issues. Example, i swapped a P75 engine into my classic panda, everything but the starter bolted straight on. This was down to the newer starter are ever so slightly more compact and the ribs on the back of the new engine are slightly bigger so it just wouldnt quite sit straight.
Don't worry about it fitting, it will all bolt up. If you want to worry about anything worry that they dont send all the parts, the refrigerant lines for example cannot be bought new, most parts can but theres some like the lines that if you dont get you'll have to source or have made custom.
