Could someone please advise me if the later 1242 8v engines will work with Sei 1108 spi head to fit an a Cinq as the faq's just list the
Punto 60, up to 1997: 176.B1.000 (SPI)
Punto 60, from 1997 : 176.B4.000 (SPI)
Later codes for 1242
188.A4.000

Also some seem to have different camshaft pulley sizes, 15mm or 25mm?

I couldn't find any posts about the newer engine codes.

Any help appreciated!

as charlies says, the guides were there when i joined the forum like 15 years ago.

so yes, basically any 1242 8v fire will work, you have pretty much got the differences you might encounter on your original post but all the stuff that might be different can be swapped from your existing 1108.

You may need to swap the crank pulley over to the cento one so the crank sensor pickup and the aux belt line up properly.
You may find the thermostat is different on newer engines but you can just whack a stat for a cento on no problems.
Only other thing that springs to mind is the metal water rail that runs across front of the engine from rear of the waterpump. This is also interchangeable with your existing one but they are nearly always rusty by now, replacements come with new seals as well so if it needs a water rail just buy a new one.

Thanks guys, Yes I am ok with everything apart from the 188 engines have a harmonic pulley and I couldn't find any posts that said they used the later engines. It seems you can't swap the crank pulley over on this one.

I've not heard this.... but if thats the case it just means either the little pulley behind the aux pulley has a different bolt pattern on it which can be changed or that the crank sensor mount is not in the same alignment, both of which are modifiable to work.
Heck people manage to fit new valver engines in centos and all these problems would be the same, crank sensor alignment, aux belt alignment etc. Its all doable. I've not looked into a 1.2 8v swap for a very very long time - seems kinda like a waste of time to me now there is better engines out there for not alot of outlay.
