Time for some homework tonight. I've got together as much info as I can muster for the NOVA application including a copy of my purchase receipt from the seller (which I drew up and he signed when the car was delivered), a copy of the car's Polish logbook, photos of the car itself wearing it'sPolish number plates and a close-up of the VIN plate, so everything should tie together.

I found some very helpful info on a Lambretta website, of all places, but much of it can be applied to cars. It also includes an example NOVA application form, which was very useful, as much for what you don't fill in, as for what you do.

Anyway, form now filled in, so I'll double check it and get it all off in the post this week, recorded delivery.

hi,well done, she looks good and well worth saving.

first cinq ive seen with rear headrests(y).

i quite like the seats and door trims, looks more up market than the tatty blue cloth set up we got over here on the west:)

should be a run project

Thanks for the encouragement. She does start and run OK and the brakes seem pretty lively, so the basics are all there and the body is sound (if dented). Everything is very neglected and dirty so it's going to be fun giving her a bit of tlc. I'm saying 'her' as although I'm not in the habit of naming cars, that photo of the number plates suggests that she may have to be known as 'Lulu'...

NOVA application is off in the post tomorrow, so fingers firmly crossed.

Just had a letter of notification from the Inland Revenue today stating that they are 'satisfied' there is no VAT due on the Cinq, so I can proceed and register the car with the DVLA.

Hoorah! :)

I've not had much time to spend on the Cinq, although I have stripped the rear end to see what sort of state it's in. I don't know where the previous owner of this car worked- possibly a quarry, as I removed about half a ton of dried mud from the rear arches and suspension. Under that, the structure seems pretty good. The rear of both inner sills is OK which is a relief. The usual rot spot at the back of the inner arch is excellent on the O/S, but is rusted through to slight pinholing in the N/S, which will need addressing, however I don't really want to make more work at the moment as the plan is to just get the car mobile, M.o.T.'d and registered, then progress from there.

Meanwhile a poor little black Cinq turned up in a local scrapyard, so I raided it for UK spec headlights and rear lights, as well as anything else I could remove. I was hoping the complete interior may be salvageable, but as you can see from the photos, it was filthy, wet and damaged. To my surprise when I checked on the DVLA database, this Cinq is still M.o.T. until November 20th!

While I remember, I need to thank Jim in Watford and Whitz of this forum for the supply of a parcel shelf and a new old stock rear bumper to replace the broken and split original on my car.

Unfortunately I learned the other day that the elderly lady I rent the garage from may have to go into care anytime soon, which I guess will probably mean I have to give it up. Currently it houses the 700cc Cinq and my L reg yellow one. I'll be really gutted if I have to let both these cars go, but my house has no drive so this is the only storage I have. Anyway, I'll have to see what happens in the next few weeks.
