Tuning Punto exhaust manifold on 1.2 cinq?

Installing a 1.2 8v engine in my sporting and want to treat it to a shiny ebay special manifold!

I was under the impression that the manifolds are slightly different due to the block height differences however, the ebay manifolds state it fits the 1.1 and 1.2 punto engines?

Could someone confirm before i spend £150 on something that doesnt fit?

You can fit a 1.2 exhaust on a 1.1 but can't fit a 1.1 on a 1.2 cause the 1.2 block is a little taller and the 1.2 has to clear the sump (they do have the same studd pattern though)

that is what worries me. i was hoping someone on here had bought one and could confirm. i have emailed the company, but unlikely they actually know tbh.



hopefully it is just a 1.2 manifold which will be perfectly fine for what i want!?

but i thought the length of exhaust was more to do with the engine (1.1/1.2) rather than the car it was in!


im assuming if it will fit both it will just be the 1.2 exhaust and in theory it still fits a 1.1, its just a bit longer.
 
The 1.1 and 1.2 are near enough identical, just the block on the 1.2 is taller to make it up to 1.2. ive fitted this one to my cinq 1.1, sits a bit low, had to make a bit of curved exhaust to clear the antirollbar but it fits. bit of a job to clear the oil filter when fitting it. Should bolt up fine to your 1.2 though.

Ah, so you have fitted that exact one to your 1.1?

I've spent far too much money completely rebuilding this 1.2 engine and sent loads of parts back that have either been ****e or wrong. Wanted to check before I did it again!

It's so close to being fitted, exciting times
 
yes that exact one, fits easier than a supersprint. Sounds good, what have you put in it? i would have put a 1.2 8v in but the ones that just drop in are rather hard to find so i settled for bigger wheels, fast cam, bigger tb and branch manifold.

I'm buying it then :D

I managed to get a mk1 punto 8v spi engine.

I have completely overhauled it. Lightened flighwheel and balanced the whole bottom end. A hone and new rings, bearings etc etc.

Spent over £500 on machine work alone. Glad I can actually put it together myself and save a few £££.

Already have an 866 cam, larger tb and straight through exhaust

Why are you buying an ebay special if your scared of buying ****e or something not fitting correctly?
Wait for decent second hand one or buy new

I've never had an issue with ebay exhausts not fitting. All my cars have them.

My biggest issue is sending stuff back as it's a pain and I'm still waiting for a PayPal refund a month later.

The lad a few posts above said it fits better than a supersprint and I need the car finished asap so I can move the car out the way and fix my girlfriend's 100hp.
