Hi

My son has been given a seicento sporting with a short mot to use

It has developed a fault
It will start for about 2 seconds then stop

I have bought a spares car & swapped Ecu, coil packs, plugs, leads, water temp sensor, crank sensor, top dead centre sensor, lambda sensor( lower one) inertia switch, throttle body,

the fuel pump makes a noise when the key is turned, fuel is being delivered to the fuel rail.

Key symbol goes out on the dashboard when starting.

How do I check the timing, I assume it can only be adjusted via the cam belt ?
 
Timing should be ok as car was running fine prior to the current starting issue?
 
Fault codes
No I don’t have a code reader,
Can you recommend where I could get one?

If I check for a spark & the spark stops after a couple of seconds would that symptom lead me away from the issue of timing being slightly out?
 
I have used 3 different crank sensors, all with no effect.
 
Just bought a fault code reader from eBay, will post the results on here
 
Fault codes
Ignition coil primary/ secondary fault coil a
Ignition coil primary / secondary fault coil b

Swapped both coil packs & ecu

.?..?.?
 
Both coil packs have a fat pink wire to each and a thinner wire

Pink wire is 12v positive & is live with the fuel pump (working ok)

Thinner wire must be the signal from ecu

Traced the cables from the coils to the ecu both ok

Traced the cables from the crank sensor to the ecu all ok

Traced the cables from the cam sensor to ecu all ok


Out of ideas ??
 
Fitted new plugs,Removed complete wiring harness (injectors, crank sensor, cam sensor, water temp sensor, coils, oil temp, block temp,) from donor fiat & fitted it to the sporting with no improvement swapped cam & crank sensors from both cars, symptoms exactly the same, starts for about 2 seconds then just turns over, if left for a while it will start again for just 2 seconds :bang:
