The indicators on my Seicento (2002) have started to work sometimes and then at other times not. It seems to be pot luck whether they function. Can someone give me a few explanations of what to check first please?
Further details:
When they don't work, both directions are out. There is also no clicking sound. I haven't checked whether the hazards are not functioning as part of the fault or not (as it has not happened to me once while I have been driving the car - my wife is the main driver).
Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much.
So, where would I find the relay please?
And, I thought about the fuse, but (and I'm no electrician), I thought that fuses blow for a reason, and then I'd be treating the symptoms not the cause. I'll check it though.

Thanks,
So can someone advise me on how to access the relay? Where is it? Do I need to take the steering wheel housing off?
Andrew

When you say "cycled", do you mean activated them and let them operate for a while? If so, "yes". I've let them run for a while and they work fine.

Since posting this two years ago I cleaned up the earth contacts over the near side wheel arch and the problem got a lot better and so I never pursued it further. It didn't fully resolve it, but the indicators only stopped temporarily once or twice.
Now they have conked out completely, and so have the hazards. There is no clicking sound from either when the switches are activated.

I never checked the relay as per the initial advice since I didn't know where to locate it. And, since the hazards are now not working I can't cycle them to see if this fixes the fault. I have tried pushing the hazard button in an out repeatedly, but it doesn't fix the fault.
Can someone recommend what I should check please?
Andrew

I've been doing some research on previous threads and they suggest that this could be the relay (which I now think I've identified). Ill check it tomorrow.

I had a go at diagnosing this fault yesterday, and typically both indicators and hazards were working!
I took the relay out and got:
19ohm between -31 and 49a
12 ohm between -31 and 49.
0 ohm between 49 and 49a
I couldn't find any information on the web about this type of resister and there is no wiring diagram on the side of it. If it fails again, can someone please tell me which socket points I could put a wire between to check whether the problem is with the relay? Thanks
Andrew
