I have had my Seicento (2002) laid up for the past few months and now that I come to use it the power steering no longer works.

I have been reading through some of the threads here but non seem relevant. I was wondering if it might be something straightforward after a period of non use.

I have checked the battery and recharged and is holding 13v. Checked the gearbox sensor - pulled the plug, squirted WD40 and replaced.

I suppose I should check power is reaching the unit. I have looked in the manual but shows left hand drive, so is the control where it is shown or are they handed for rhd so the control box would be under the glove box. Could someone confirm please, also any other suggestions.

Thanks and sorry so late - did not get email reminder.

I will have a look tomorrow.

Hello, just got a siecento active sport for my daughter who will hopefully pass her test in a few days and I'm trying to get it ready, it's a 53 plate with 35000 miles, great little car, very clean and tidy, just one fault tho, the power steering is playing up when going slow and turning left or right, and stationary, feels like the power steering is struggling to work as it should, steering very stiff and I can here the electric motor, any ideas what the problem is, I've had the battery checked at the motor factors with a machine and it's good, pretty new too, I've had the multimeter on the battery when car is running, it's 14.3 v, but when I turn steering it drops to 13.6, would I need to change motor or rack,?? Any help or advice would be much appreciated thanks

I haven't jacked it up yet, will do tommorow, the car was sat for a few months before I bought it, so that's a possibility, it steers ok when driving at speed, just struggles when going slow or stationary, can also hear the motor whining too

I am not having much luck with this.

I ran Multiecuscan and when running the simulation it came up with RAM errors in the control unit. Would this be having any effect on the problem.

Still stuck with this problem.

I have found that power is getting to the steering motor. From what I can see the unit seems to be behind the speedo. How do I get access to remove the power unit please. Which panel have to come off. This is RHD.
