Schumacher hi I was of the impression that I could put a punto mk2 engine in my seicento 1.2 mpi any year so I bought a 1.2 engine mpi but I've looked all over the internet to find engine code and it says the 1.2 engine code that is ideal is 176a4000 but the engine I have is out of a mk2 punto mpi with engine code 188a 4000 is this gonna be a problem please help as ive done half the work I've taken the engine out I'm just about to put this engine in but I don't want to if I'm gonna run in to problems thanks peps

The first 3 numbers related to the car model, 176 is Punto Mk1, 188 is Punto Mk2.
I'm no expert on engine swaps, but I'd say 176a4000 is likely to be identical to 188a4000.
Thanks mate that's wot I was thinking just didn't want to put the engine in if it doesn't go I've checked the engine and from wot I can see it is completely identical other than the crank pulley needs changing and left top engine mount.thanks.steve[emoji106]

I found with FrankenFIRE 1...

1368 Grande block.
Mk2 1242 head.
Mk1 Punto 75 866 cam' (later swapped to the Mk2 Panda 4x4 cam')

...the pulleys need the belt in place when you release the bolt otherwise the locator can sheer off and the pulley spins freely.

Only do it up barely more than finger tight and torque once the new belt is in place.

is your old engine a wider spaced cam belt... reason is im after the bottom crank pully from an older style engine pluss if possible the old cam belt and water pump to test fit on my engine (my track car) ... and yes that engine is a perfect fit as i have the mk2 engine in mine... and a few tweaks

If it's the wider spaced cambelt type... could you remove them and post them to me ? Im in Lancs.. I will pay you for the items of course.. Thanks Ade
