Hey guys.

I noticed on the way home today that the oil light came on when I braked. I'd been full throttle on the motorway for a few minutes before it happened but that's not caused any issues before. I checked the oil when I stopped and had plenty, I assume the oil was just sloshing around and momentarily starving the pump but not sure why that would only start happening now. On a potentially related note, the car's been losing power when cold like it's getting fuel starvation which started after I changed the fuel tank and cleaned out the in tank filter. It's a 0.9 Sei by the way.

Anyone know what could be causing these things?

Thanks

Hi,
Two things to consider,
1 The wire to the pressure switch has either come off and is moving under braking and touching ground (chassis ) or has chafed and shorting under braking. ground =light on.

2 The oil pickup pipe or the strainer on the end has dropped off changing the level the pump can work at due to slosh.

Had same problem on my Panda classic 141...
It was the wire
Easy fix for you

I hadn't driven the car for a while as I was in the process of fitting my lowering springs and had to wait for new bolts to arrive but I just went for a drive in it. The problem on closer inspection seems to be when the engine's at idle and warm rather than under braking so I'd say that's either the pump not moving enough at that engine speed or the sensor's a bit too sensitive and is coming on when the pressure's at it's lowest. I've got a new sensor so I'll hopefully fit that soon and sort it out what the actual cause is.
