866 cam' removes the non-interference-ness.

I have a 1242 8V with 866 in my shed.

well looks like i will just stick a replacement in... 1.2 8v cheap as chips.

Don't think you even need that, the 1.1 and 1.2 heads are the same so you should just get away with a replacement cylinder head.

I might just have got away with it..... took head off... while doing so had a feel of the cam belt it was loose... looked at the top pully it was hanging off the bolt was out about 8mm i undid the bolt with my fingers... and top pully fell off in my hand.. the last owner (ive done around 500 miles in it) did have it in the garage to have the cam fitted... so it looks like it's either not been tightened up correctly or it's come loose.... its spun the key pip off the top pully and its just been spinning not turning the cam at all....... so had head off and not one mark on any valve or piston.... so im going fit new head gasket set/ pully and cam belt.... what do you reckon ? Thanks Ade

Funny that bearing in mind I’ve jumped the timing on a 1242 fitted with an 866 in the past [emoji848][emoji848]

That's what happened to FrankenFIRE version 1

Belt went at about sixty and the driver didn't drop the clutch in time.

Due to compression being in the wrong cycle it blew the head gasket as well. I found the bent valves when I took the head off to replace the gasket.

Thus FrankenFIRE II was created.

Quick Question .... I have a Vernier Pulley (bought brand new) from Piper... but the belt and pulley wheels on my car is wrong it's a 2002 mk2 punto 1.2 8v mpi engine..... can i fit the right cam sprocket to the crank and the correct cam belt to suit ? or im i talking rubbish ? ... is it the older kit i need or the 1100cc ?.. thanks chaps
