How can the wheel camber be affected?

I changed bottom balljoint along with suspension arm and apart from some minor probs with bolt threads, all went back as should, I think!

Problem is wheel is riding on outer edge of tyre, scrubbing tread as it goes and handling and grip are crap at best.

Tracking is out I know, but is this enough to affect camber as well?

Any advice much appreciated.

because it is a fixed strut I thought you adjust it at the top.

Take it to a tracking specialist and they do it for £30(y)

Yes tracking can affect camber, a bit. From your description you have positive camber, which is bad. The only post war car that came with positive camber was the Hillman Imp, and that was just to get the sidelights high enough to pass Construction and Use regs.

Make sure the bottom ball joint is exactly square in its hole in the upright and fully home. I would guess that you replaced the whole arm, are you sure it was the same size as the one you took off, not an Uno one, frinstance.

You can get a bit of camber adjustment where the pinch bolts for he damper. If you push the top of the upright in while tightening the bolts you can get a wee bit of neggy camber with the slightly oversized bolt oles.

I installed Monroe's Magic camber kit, which does what Rallycinq said, but with a more sophisticated way. I now have a -0.45 degrees camber, which is a settlement between cornering and tyrewear.
