Hello

My Sei turbo made it on the road Saturday, head gasket failed Saturday afternoon

It's on a standard fibre gasket

This leads to the question:
Can I run an MLS gasket out of a 1242? I know Payen make one

I'm pretty sure the fibre head gaskets are all the same part number

Any info would be great

Thanks
Sam

Knowing a bit more about your setup would help, but, IMO, probably nothing or little to do with the HG material, rather bad fueling / ignition / engine management setup. Or bad assembly.

On a 1.2 you can use an MLS HG, not sure about 1.1. But then, your CR would increase and if your engine control is not up to the job, it will get even worse.

Its running a DET3 in fuel implant, multipoint injection with 350cc injectors, 3 bar fuel pressure, CT9 turbo, Fiesta RS Turbo airtec intercooler, external wastegate (set at 0.5 bar) and colder plugs

Im pretty sure the failure is due to overboost, as it has seen more than it should have ;)

I'll have an answer if it'll fit this evening, I've got a fibre one in stock and an MLS so either way it'll have a new one this evening

Just for the record, and as Fiatcinquecento says the 1.2 multilayer head gasket will fit

I can get the part number of the head gasket I used

The bore seemed to be the same size too

Anyhow, it all bolted up fine and works, very well, with the greasy roads I was seeing wheel spin in 3rd on the way home from mapping it :ROFLMAO:

The ignition timing and fuelling had to be changed a lot, I'm assuming that this is due to the difference in thickness, or that the head gasket wasn't blown so it actually had compression

Thanks
Sam
