hi just got a free seicento sporting, broom yellow.

was taken off the road 15mths ago due to starting issue.

sometimes it will start and away you go,other times il get a buzzing "relay sound" from inside fuse box.

and a good bit of clacking realy sound from a large relay pack, just beside ecu in engine bay. sounds like there just switching on and off with in split seconds.

a few taps and they stop, you can then turn the key to start it,again it may start or it might just start clicking madly again???

ive put in a known working relay pack, same problem.

i think its a bad earth somewhere, either ignition switch area or a body earth somewhere under dash etc.

main earth to chassis is clean and tight.

battery light just glows dimly, doesnt get brighter at night with all lights and heater on,battery is charging fine.

so where do i look next, and where do i find the smaller body earths?

great little car in good condition with no rust.

many thanks in advance:)

hi rallycinq.

after checking the main earth, the smaller one beside ecu was my second earth to remove and tighten/clean.

is there any other earthing points under the dash area?? have you heard of this before?

its a 00 seicento sporting,and yes its a spi.

thanks for your input.:)

:) both cant go at once.

altinator fine,giving out 14v.

starter is good.

its the realy that switchs the motor on seems to be the problem area,or more the feed/signal that operates the starter realay.

she let me down again today, and after a hour of no go,i lost the rag and reefed and pulled at loom!! gave it 1 last go b4 i was going to burn car,and up she fired, running lovely.

i started it and stopped it a few times during a 120mile round trip.

its a mad fault, has to be a earth,as still battery light glows.

this fault has happened,it has acted up like this 10 times and ive done 1600mls since the first time.

any sensible ideas???

thanks in advance

Have you checked the main battery feed from the starter/alternator upto the battery?

There is a large black block connector on the underside of the battery tray (going off memory here) ive seen these corrode up and cause issues, 1 is the main feed and the other is the warning signal light for the dash.

but still charging light glowing.
