Exhaust Flexi Section

I had to take my 2002 1108cc Seicento on a long trip and while away from home I had to have the back section of the exhaust replaced at a garage. They said that the flexi bit could do with replacing sooner rather than later. I had a look at it, and yes it had surface rust, but it wasn't ready for replacing yet, in my opinion. So, I let them just fix the back section, and thought I'd do the flexi bit when I got home.
The back end of the exhaust that the garage ordered and put on has two "boxes". When I had a look at the Haynes manual, searched for online parts, and also had a good read of previous threads on here, I am confused about what exactly I need to buy for this "flexi bit". It seems that this is complicated as the O/D and sections can vary. also, some of the links on the threads are old and/or not working.
So, can someone advise me please on how to identify which bit I need? Also, will this involve welding, or is it clamped on? Plus, I've got ramps and axle stands, but no pit, and is it just less faff to take it to a garage and let them sort it out? I'd rather do the job myself though.
Thanks,
Andrew

Re: Exhaust Flexi Section

Yours should be MPi which means you have the manicat.

The section after the manicat contains the flexi and is clamp on.

Re: Exhaust Flexi Section

I have to do this job soon. I ordered the longest pipe as there are 4 options. I might be able to cut it shorter if necessary. I'm hoping it will fit without too much faffing!!!

Otherwise I'll be cycling to work...

There are 2 versions with reference to pipe diameter so check yours before ordering.

Re: Exhaust Flexi Section

Thanks for all that. I still haven't got around to ordering the section. I can see how it all just slots together and can also see the different lengths available, so I may also go for the longest and cut it to fit if necessary.
Having never done this before on any car, I've read in the Haynes that high temp tolerant paste is required when joining the mid-section to the back. I am thinking whether I could just use some stove fire cement that I already have in my garage. The fire cement sets hard, but does the proper paste retain some flexibility to it?
