Re: Free 1994 Cinq, 900cc ..

Rallycinq, I want to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind.

Quote Quote:
A 900 on Sporting springs and sporting rubber is a great wee thing. I had a Black one for ages as a run around, it loved being thrashed.
Is it possible to fit Sporting springs to a 900... without further modification? I mean, would I have to change suspension arms, for example (or all Cinquecentos have the same ones?)

Is it worthwhile to fit a front roll bar from a Sporting to a 900?

And finally - I suppose the six-speed gearbox is from a Punto Mk2?

Any info much appreciated - thanks!

Yes the Sporting springs fit fine.
I ran Seicento Abarth sporings & dampers on my 899 Cinq.

I ran mine without the roll bar.
Removing the roll bar from a Sporting actually improves front grip in poor conditions as it allows the inner wheel to keep contact with the road.

I agree with all of the above. If your dampers are still in good condition, lowering the car the small amount the Sporting springs give improves the handling but doesn't remove your teeth or allow the dampers to bottom out.

Punto Mk1. They did an 1108 Mk1 that was so underpowered it needed the close ratio 6 speed box.

Re: Free 1994 Cinq, 900cc ..

Progress report.

Both washer motors fitted yesterday, both NRVs blocked. Fortunately had 2 in stock so popped them in.

Washers working.

New front bumper half fitted, finish that job tonight and hopefully fuel filter arrives today too.

Thanks, good to know about using those in a 900. I understand the ARB would be compatible too then.

My Cinquecento will see good-weather urban driving, mostly, with the occasional trip down the motorway... so I think I'll try to find an ARB.

Thanks again!

OK, thanks. I understood the Punto 55S was very low-geared, and that's why people try to fit a Mk2 one for normal driving. In your case, of course, an Mk1 would suit you even better!

Allow me to ask you another question: I suppose the 900 cc engine and the six-speed gearboxes found in FIRE cars such as the Puntos are not compatible?

Thanks again and good luck with your present build.

Yes the ARB will fit, youíll need the brackets to attach them to the wishbones too.

But, it is a small and very light car, I didnít miss not having an ARB.
Remember that adding one will increase understeer, so you may want to try it without first.

Correct, the six speed doesn't fit the 899.

Thank you, current build nearly finished, I hope

Re: Free 1994 Cinq, 900cc ..

That is SO cool- I love the look of that

I hadn't imagined it to be red actually (sorry- that must seem daft) It really stands out in that colour

I've always liked those wheel trims; I had them on my Mk1 Uno

Good to see it rolling again- well done...!
