I didn't get out of bed to check, but it was a lightbulb moment that makes sense in my head.

Tonight, I will find out.

However, if 12v heater supply has been applied to the lambda sensor it might be fried.

Worth a try tonight, new lambda arriving tomorrow.

I was half right.

Disconnected the lambda plugs and had a short on the heater side. Decided it was probably toast so popped underneath to remove it from the exhaust.

As I pulled the cable down I came across a blob of insulating tape.

None of the colours matched.....

New one arriving today

The blob had lasted, it just wasn't wired correctly. Both bits had 4 wires, 2 white, one grey, one black.

Its not that difficult to match them, but..............

that's a classic- one of those 'low-light connection' anomalies.

I used to make off technical-wiring in building-site situations, and a classic mistake was orange & cyan, which appear exactly the same shade in poor light.

tbf, its old and italian, it was always gonna be something like this lol. Could be worse, whoever it was used insulation tape at least, my old panda had loads of weird wiring wrapped in parcel tape :shakehead:

Not competing. The car belongs to my 13 year old step daughter. She is a cadet marshal. My idea is that we can both go and marshal and after the event get the use of the area to allow her to start learning to drive.

My son's just about to go 13 and he (for the first time ever) expressed an interest in autonomously getting behind the wheel recently-

of my mate's Abarth EVO Punto

(not a bad place to aspire to be, I suppose!)

But the Cinq will have terrific steering-feedback and easy-of-clutch, so might make the perfect learning-car...

Alex (step daughter) is very keen to do it. We have been up and down the farm yard a few times, but she needs more space.

She is just outside the spectrum and I don't know whether she will cope with all the simultaneous inputs and outputs so a very big open space will be ideal.
