Not competing. The car belongs to my 13 year old step daughter. She is a cadet marshal. My idea is that we can both go and marshal and after the event get the use of the area to allow her to start learning to drive.

Re: Free 1994 Cinq, 900cc ..

oh wow-

great idea!

My son's just about to go 13 and he (for the first time ever) expressed an interest in autonomously getting behind the wheel recently-

of my mate's Abarth EVO Punto

(not a bad place to aspire to be, I suppose!)

But the Cinq will have terrific steering-feedback and easy-of-clutch, so might make the perfect learning-car...

Alex (step daughter) is very keen to do it. We have been up and down the farm yard a few times, but she needs more space.

She is just outside the spectrum and I don't know whether she will cope with all the simultaneous inputs and outputs so a very big open space will be ideal.

Before my enforced visit to dry dock next month, thought I'd better get my finger out.

MOT finally booked for tomorrow.

Thumbs up Re: Free 1994 Cinq, 900cc ..

Fantastic thread. Your stamina is inspiring. Brought back fond memories of the Cinq I bought for 100 Euro with a fuel tank full of water 12years ago to teach my daughter to drive . She stills remembers it fondly and is an avid small fiat fan. Currently without Cinq or Sei but hope to remedy that soon!

Did you get the MOT?

Re: Free 1994 Cinq, 900cc ..

Jings, July already. thats a bit of a gap, apologies.

So what happened.

Borrowed a trailer, took the car to close by the MOT station.
Took car of trailer and left it idling while i tidied up the ramps etc.

Went to drive the car to park it, no oomph at all. would idle, but not drive.

Spent a few weeks, on and off, going through everything in the work car park trying to sort it.

Got very fed up, put it back on the trailer and abandoned it at the back of the shed in disgust.

New hip in December (planned), Heart attack in January (unplanned).

Lockdown..... did a few projects on other cars in the fleet and then dragged the bloody thing out of the shed.

Started at the front (wrong) and worked back. Stripping, checking, even to the extent of the loom. Everything could not have been more perfect, but still refused to run.

Threw it back in the shed again, then thought about it......the only thing I hadn't checked was the fuel pump. Opened the diamond plate to be presented with the pump housing 'attached' to the tank by gaffa tape!!!!

Managed to obtain a new pump housing this week, and.....so far so good.

Smoother idle and no huge flat spot.

About to go round the block, maybe see you later....

Re: Free 1994 Cinq, 900cc ..

Randomly came across this thread. Great read, very interesting, edge of your seat riveting stuff. Glad I hadn't read it when you first posted, so I got to see it running by the end of the thread.

How's it running now, have you manged to get it through an MOT yet ?

In hindsight, would you take the car again, with the bother it's caused you ?

Hope you're fighting fit again too.
