Hello.

Can ayone help me please. My Fiat Cinquecento.....('95/N) is leaking water into the drivers footwell. It only happens when it rains, but the water is tinted pink when I bail it out. Its not coming up from below as it happens when its just sat in the drive way as well. I am getting a couple of inches in the footwell every time it rains. Its very annoying! Any ideas as Fiat seem reluctant to look as its an older car.

Thanks

Abi:)

Yes, I do have a sunroof......but its not wet around it, and the seats arent wet.

Well...not that this helps much, but my 899cc does the same

Only way Ive noticed to stop it / prevent it for a few days is to park with the affected side uphill.

You'll be getting lots of water in as the underlay underneath the carpet will be soaked through. Rip the conduit cover by the door off (the black strip on the floor nearest the door-seal), pull the grey carpet up and lightly manoeuver the underlay out, and leave it to dry.

If you look under there, you'll probably find the shiny felt-backed black part is soaked from about 15cm up from the bottom. Ive looked all around mine for the access hole that the water could be getting in at, and there only one possible, but Im really not positive that that is causing the problem!

I used to have a golf that leaked and I used to have to park it like this, in the winter it'd freeze and I'd have ice all over the floor in the back.. Anyway the water used to get in through the passenger door window because the seal wasn't very good, in fact it was missing in places, so when it rained it just drained into the door and straight through into the back. It might be worth checking the rubber seals round your door/windows etc..

I know an industrial earth moving equipment manufacturer that checks for leaks in it's cabs using smoke caspsules (smoke bombs).

Anyway doesn't the floor pan have some slots to allow water to escape? If not might be worth drilling a little hole to get the water out.

im getting a leak in the boot of my cinq its filling up the spare tire hole slowly any one got any ideas bout where is comeing from i cnt see any where

Some Seicentos came from the factory with panel sealant missing around the battery tray in the engine compartment. They used to pour water into the footwells, worth a check.

Bad seal around the rear light clusters is the most common cause.

humm i got the day off tomorrow will have to have a look (if it aint pissing dwn) could i seal it with sealnt like mastic

humm thinking of it i need to get sum paint to spray my spoiler

its jus general house hold clear mastic

woudl that be ok

I have had water leak from the rear clusters and run stright through as mentioned before and water can leak through the gaps in the plastic trim that runs along the bottom of the sills too.

Liked previously stated, get a mate to hose down the car and watch for it, this is how the garages fix it.

i will be sealing the rear cluster tomorrow then
