I have just acquired a Maxiscan ms300........and although I don't own a Cinq (maybe later),I'd like to know if the Cinquecento is capable of fault codes being read with the OBD 11 meter

Thanks guys.

Thanks for that......I have ordered a 3 pin converter data link cable..... Suitable for FCA vehicles....but I fear my meter is not going to read OBD 1 !!!

OBDII compliance was only brought in for petrol engines from 2001, and diesels from 2005.

You will be better off with MultiEcuScan software which is tailored for older cars such as the Cinq.

Thanks brick foot.....
I see you run GP.....my partner has an 06 1.4 .....and suffers from the occasional steering power failure.
Will my OBD meter pick up the fault?.....as history?

No it won't. The issue with generic OBD readers is that they will only connect to engine ECU's as part of a directive to enable independent garages to diagnose faults without the expensive dealership equipment. THe only thing you're going to get from a generic OBD reader is fault codes, and live engine sensor readings where supported.

PAS, ABS, Airbag, etc are all handled through MultiECUScan, as it is written in a way that it can speak to each module in the car to diagnose issues with each individual system.
