General stiff steering on cinq 97

hi,my latest cinq has stiff steering.

middle point,and half a turn either left or right?

when you go around a sharp bend it is fine but it wont self correct ? tracking is fine etc,just tight steering?

its fine when you get past the half turn.

no signs of accident damage.

car was sat up for 6mths,but passed its mot/nct last may,surely they would have picked up on it.

any ideas would be a great help.

could be lots of things.

steering column bearing/s, steering column to rack UJ, steering rack, tierod/rack end, track rod end, lower arm balljoint, suspension strut top mount.

could be any of those, but i would look at anything with a rubber gaitor as water ingress and it sitting could have knackered them

i know it could be 1 of what you mentioned,but you can discount at least 3 quarters of them straight off.

its stiff in central position and half a turn either side of centre,its then perfect and free.

so could be in rack or something.

il give it a look over this weekend.

s tight ball joint or track control joint would be stiff from lock to lock,not just at 1 point??

il keep you posted,as mentioned its a low milage car with 37k on clock,and has only sat up for 6mths.

sure il see how i go.
